Tea for Two...Mommy and You!

We hosted a teaparty the other evening in honor of Mother's Day. You big girls begged me to let you have a small tea party last summer with your closest friends. With being late in my pregnancy with Adelynn and all the sickness that comes along with it, I just couldn't muster up the energy to do it. However, now that Spring is finally here, I thought it would be fun to start a new tradition. As a mother of three little Southern ladies, I began dreaming of how much fun it would be to host an annual Mother~Daughter Tea Party with you and your special friends. I let each of you choose 3 of your dearest friends and we sent out the invites for our Garden Tea Party. We made little flower pots out of cardstock and crepe paper for the guests and used them as placecard holders. You helped me choose the spring napkins and we used tea cups and tea pots that belonged to my Granny and your Mimi.

Your Friends and their very special Mommies

Because this was originally your idea and hosted in honor of you and your friends, I gave the simple instructions to go to your closets and pick out whatever you would like to wear for the party, as long as it was a little fancy. This was a little hard for me because I am a custom to being in control of the wardrobes at this stage in your lives. I could not have been more pleased! Ailee came out dressed just as Mommy would have picked out...pink smocked dress, large hairbow and matching shoes. Anna Grace, you were wearing your new found style of leggings and a skirt. You were in pink from head to toes and looked just precious with a big flower in your hair, and don't forget the sparkle shoes. It will be fun to look back through the years and see the different attire you each choose for this special party.

When the little ladies arrived with their mommy's, I helped them make hats using wrapping paper and daisies, an idea I saw in the latest issue of Family Fun. It was fun to dress up...some in gloves, some in pearls, some in dresses, and so on. I loved seeing the closeness and affection between the Mommas and their little angels. You all had such a great time playing together in the backyard as the mothers just sat chatting and listening to the sweet giggles and conversations echoing through the grass as you would run by.

Although Adelynn was too small to invite friends and sip tea, you definitely enjoyed playing with your tea cup. One of my favorite memories from the evening is...
how adorably sweet you are when you nestle your tiny head in my neck and exchange sugar with me! You are such a little cuddle bug and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

And it is very obvious why your Daddy was blessed with three, beautiful daughters instead of sons...

His willingness to dig his heels in and enjoy the girlieness right along side us. Unexpectedly and without a single request, he showed up in his tie and towel ready to serve all of us. So sweet, Daddy! We love you and no wonder the girls think you hung the moon!

Mommy and her lovely, little ladies! Until next year...remember your manners: sip slowly and take small bites! Each of you rock my world! No dream could ever be better than this!!!

How adorable and tell John how awesome he was taking part in the fun! I'm not sure my husband would do that. Emma Tucker and I are already collecting items for when she is old enough to have a tea party.
